San Jose, California August 14, 2009 - Sun-Net Corporation announced it has been awarded Hydro One Network Inc.'s contract for an integrated suite of software for Outage Management, Electronic Logging, scheduling and Utility Work Protection provided by Sun-Net's TOA® Outage Application suite.
Hydro One Networks owns and maintains Ontario's transmission and distribution system. Hydro One is involved in the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of its transmission and distribution network. Hydro One owns 97% of transmission in Ontario with almost 30,000 km of high-voltage transmission lines. It also owns and operates 26 interconnections with neighboring provinces and states, which allow electricity to flow into and out of Ontario. Hydro One's distribution system delivers electricity to residences, farms and businesses through its network. Hydro One Network is the largest utility in the province of Ontario, with over 123,000 km of wires serving 1.3 million customers, mostly in rural areas.
"TOA® will be used in Hydro One's transmission and distribution control center to manage the entire system operation. It will help Hydro One streamline and simplify its outage coordination process as well as help Hydro One to unify the practice to write and process switching orders and give system operators an efficient tool in logging for real-time operation. TOA® will also help with NERC compliance. Sun-Net is very proud to have Hydro One join our user family of over 29 utilities in North America." said Daniel Sun, Principal of Sun-Net in San Jose, California.
