Manitoba Hydro is the largest electric Utility in the province of Manitoba and is the fourth largest Canadian electrical utility. TOA® has been recognized as an Example of Excellence in recent NERC Audits.

It is great privilege for Sun-Net to provide Manitoba Hydro with software solutions to enhance and streamline their operational processes." said Dick George, Senior Executive Consultant of Sun-Net in San Jose, California.

Manitoba Hydro Awarded TOA® contract to Sun-Net Consulting
September 07, 2007

Sun-Net Consulting (SNC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by Manitoba Hydro for the delivery and implementation of a Consolidated Operational Data and Logging Application Suite.

Manitoba Hydro is a Crown Corporation and the province’s major energy utility; headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Manitoba exports electricity to over 30 electric utilities through their participation in four wholesale markets in Canada and the mid-western United States. Manitoba Hydro serves 516,800 electric customers throughout Manitoba and 259,500 gas customers in various communities throughout southern Manitoba. Nearly all the electricity Manitoba Hydro generates is from self-renewing water power from 14 hydroelectric generating stations, primarily on the Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and Nelson rivers. Manitoba Hydro is one of the largest energy utilities in Canada.

The Energy Delivery and Outage Application Suite (TOA®) developed by SNC will provide Manitoba Hydro with an advanced integrated comprehensive role based application tool. Designed and individually customized for processing and managing power system outages on the generation, transmission, sub-transmission, distribution and gas systems. The web based application covers the complete spectrum in today’s outage coordination and reporting processes including real-time, short term, and long term planning. The application received recognition as an Example of Excellence in recent NERC Audits.

“It is great privilege for us at SNC to work with our neighbors to the north Manitoba Hydro. By implementing SNC’s software application Manitoba Hydro will integrate and streamline their overall operational processes. In doing so Manitoba Hydro is taking a big step forward in enhancing their communications and data sharing capabilities both interdepartmental and with neighboring utilities in Canada and the United States including MISO. This will further increase reliability on the bulk transmission grid, sufficiently lessen redundant effort, saving valuable man hours and money. Welcome aboard Manitoba" said Thomas Barker, System Operations Specialist at SNC. “We at Sun-Net welcome Manitoba Hydro as one of our new customers. We are tremendously enthusiastic with this opportunity to provide them with same quality and commitment we have become known for.” said Daniel Sun, Principal Consultant of SNC in San Jose, California.
